How to Arrange Your Bed for a Good Night's Sleep

Has anyone ever had trouble sleeping, or woke up suddenly in the middle of the night? The cause of these symptoms could be work-related stress or eating before bed, for example. If you've tried solutions without success, try rearranging your bed to be more suitable. Here's how to arrange your bed for a comfortable sleep you won't want to get out of:

Appropriate Bed Height

The bed frame should be at an appropriate height, not too high and not too low. The space under the bed should be open to allow good air circulation and easy cleaning. If the bed is too low or has drawers underneath, avoid using excessively bright lights, as this can create a sense of pressure that prevents sleep. Instead, opt for eye-friendly lighting that isn't too bright. A desk lamp would be even better.

Headboard Placement

The placement of your headboard is important. The head of the bed should not face a bathroom, hallway, or window, as this can cause distractions during sleep, leading to an unrestful night. This can certainly have a negative impact on your health over time. If it's unavoidable, use curtains to block it, soundproof the room, and place the bed firmly against a strong and stable wall.

Bed Placement

Optimal bed placement means keeping it away from the room's door. A bed too close to the door can draw attention outward, causing your brain to work harder during sleep, which can lead to restless sleep. Also, being in front of the door can make you easily startled when someone opens it or you hear people walking by. The ideal position for your bed is in the corner opposite the door, or diagonally across from it.

Environment Around the Bed

Leave equal space around both sides of the bed for easy movement and to avoid feeling cramped. Furniture and decorative items around the bed should be neatly arranged. A bedroom is like your thoughts; if your bedroom is cluttered, it can lead to scattered thoughts and prevent you from sleeping.

Things Not to Place Above the Bed

Things that should not be placed above the bed include beams, mirrors, and air conditioners. All of these should be kept away from the mattress to prevent unexpected accidents. In particular, mirrors should never be on the side or at the foot of the bed. If unavoidable, cover the mirror with a cloth when going to sleep to prevent accidents.

The problem of insomnia or waking up in the middle of the night will disappear. Just try to rearrange your bed to suit the room's space and atmosphere. Instead of arranging your bed however you please, arrange it for a comfortable sleep for your own health.
